Education in Human Values

Javier Payano (he/him/his)

Javier Payano (he/him/his) teaches Orchestra, Music Therapy for Diverse Learners, and Ukulele & Songwriting at Lane Tech College Prep High School. He serves as a guitar class instructor for the Ravinia Lawndale Family Music School and is the Co-Founder of the youth orchestra outreach program the YOURS Orchestra Project. He received a Bachelor’s in Music Education and a certificate in Music for Social Change and Human Values from North Park University. He studied at the Institute of Sathya Sai Education in Thailand and remains dedicated to integrating the Education in Human Values model in his classroom as well as training and providing workshops for teachers and community leaders interested in EHV. In 2017 he co-founded the Human Values Club, a group dedicated to bringing EHV to a wider audience through YouTube content creation, Twitch streaming, weekly practice guide newsletters, and providing opportunities for both teachers and young people to get involved with intersectional social justice.
